Advocacy
It is our mission to ensure personal mobility and help sustain and strengthen North Carolina's economic and community vitality by supporting and advocating for public transit as an integral part of a sustainable transportation system in North Carolina. Since its founding in 1983, NCPTA has been an avid advocate for transportation at the state and federal level. NCPTA has served as an integral voice for increased transit funding and transit-friendly policy, resulting in millions of dollars for the state’s public transportation industry. NCPTA hosts an annual Legislative trip to Washington, DC to meet with the NC Congressional delegation and key agencies. In 2011 NCPTA anticipates convening a State Advocacy Day to brief state legislators on the importance role public transportation plays in taking people to work and medical appointments, improving air quality, relieving congestion, reducing traffic congestion and making our North Carolina communities more livable.
