Zebulon/Wendell – Raleigh Express Begins October 26th

Research Triangle Park, NC (October 13, 2009) - A new weekday express bus route connecting Zebulon and Wendell with downtown Raleigh will begin on Monday, October 26, 2009.

The Zebulon/Wendell-Raleigh Express (ZWX) is a limited-stop route. Stops include Park-and-Ride lots in Zebulon and Wendell, WakeMed and Wake County Human Services off New Bern Ave, four stops at the state government complex, and the Moore Square Transit Station in downtown Raleigh.

There will be an introductory fare free period from October 26th through November 30th.

The service is a partnership of Triangle Transit, the towns of Wendell and Zebulon, and the City of Raleigh.

The Zebulon/Wendell-Raleigh Express will run at peak commute times: Monday-Friday 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and Monday-Friday 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. After the initial fare free period, the fare for the route is $2.50 per one-way trip or $5.00 per round-trip.

Discount fares and passes are offered. Several employers in downtown Raleigh offer free or discounted transit passes to employees. The list of employers can be found at: http://triangletransit.org/bus/fares/employee-tickets/.
