Driving Excellence in Public Transportation

2021 NCPTA Annual Conference & Expo

We are excited to announce that the 2021 NCPTA Annual Conference & Expo will occur virtually on April 12-14.  And as a thank you for everyone’s continued support, the Conference will be offered at no charge to our System members, Associate members (business partners) and Alumni members.  In addition, there will be random drawings for door prizes held throughout the entire virtual event.  The more sessions attended, the better chance of winning!

Transit representatives from 89 rural, urban, and regional systems from across the state will come together virtually to train, learn, share, and network with community and business leaders; local, state, and federal agencies; and the suppliers and vendors that serve the public transit industry.  This is the most opportune time to exchange ideas, share successes, and brainstorm solutions to the challenges faced every day.

Registration is now open.  Register Now !

Conference (April 12, 13, & 14, 2021)

As public transportation professionals, we all have an important opportunity to come together and share our experiences with and learn from our peers.  Why is public transportation so valuable to our communities?  What does it mean to the citizens we serve?  How does it affect everyone’s quality of life?  What does it mean to us, and why are we so passionate in striving for excellence?  The conference is a perfect time to hone our skills in achieving excellence in public transportation.

The Conference will include topics for both Rural and Urban systems, state and federal updates, and sessions related to maintenance, technology, safety, security, operations, and administration.

If you are interested in leading a conference session, joining one of our planning committees, or you would just like to learn more about our events, please contact Conference Co-Chair Kelly Blazey at kelly.blazey@townofcary.org

Business Partner Expo (April 12, 2021)

One of the highlights of the overall event is the Expo!  Many of our systems are not able to travel to national tradeshows, and the annual conference may be the only opportunity they have to meet with industry representatives. The Expo offers a terrific opportunity to interact with existing and future customers in a relaxed virtual setting, while allowing you to showcase the transit related products & services you have to offer.  The cost is only $100.00.

Want to make a big splash?  Sign up as a Supporting Sponsor for the conference – a surefire way to increase your company’s exposure and get people talking about your business all conference long!  Supporting Sponsors have an opportunity to host one of the Conference virtual breakout sessions and they will be included in the Expo at no additional charge.  The cost is only $500.00.  Becoming a Supporting Sponsor is the best opportunity to give back, take a prominent leadership role, and extend your impact within the public transit industry in North Carolina.

If you would like to learn more about the Expo, please contact Conference Co-Chair L.J. Weslowski at weslowlj@concordnc.gov

The Roadeo has been rescheduled for some time in the fall of 2021.  The exact dates and registration information will be posted here as soon as it becomes available.  In the meantime, please feel free to review the description below.

The Rodeo is the premier safety and training event for all System Member operators/drivers, culminating in the “crowning” of the most skilled operators/drivers in North Carolina.

There will be two (2) competition categories.  They are 35 Foot Bus and LTV.  Each System Member may register for any or all these categories and they may register any number of people for each vehicle category.

System Members may also register one (1) team for each vehicle category.  A team consists of the three (3) people identified as such during the registration process.

Awards will include a first, second, and third place individual finish in each of the two (2) vehicle categories; and a first, second, and third place team finish in each of the two (2) categories.  In addition to the trophy awards, the first, second, and third place individual finishers in each of the two (2) vehicle categories will receive cash prizes of $500.00, $250.00, and $100.00, respectively!

Do not miss out on this opportunity.  There is no better incentive for improving safety than to send your transit system’s best operators/drivers to the rodeo, where they can demonstrate their skill and compete for being the best of the best.
