Driving Excellence in Public Transportation

NCPTA Honors Milestone Leaders

The North Carolina Public Transportation Association honored three longtime transit leaders during its monthly system member conference call on May 27th.

Geri Ballew served Buncombe County and Mountain Mobility for 31 years. She was instrumental in developing the fixed route system that connected people in the outlying areas to the City of Asheville's public transit system.

Rebecca Cherry has served as a passionate transit leader in both the public and private sector for 37 years. She remains a strong business partner with the Association as it advocates for public transit funding in Raleigh and Washington DC.

Larry Kopf has served in public transit for more than 40 years. He retired from the Charlotte Area Transit System in March. Larry continues to lend his vast knowledge and expertise to the Association.
